What does ChatGPT have to say about Cardano?

ChatGPT is a complex language model created by OpenAI, a renowned artificial intelligence research group. It is built on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) architecture, which employs deep learning techniques to comprehend and generate natural language content.

But what does ChatGPT have to say about Cardano? Let's find out.

ChatGPT is only trained on content prior to the year 2021, so it doesn’t have the most updated information, but it clearly knows what Cardano is:

The answer is well-crafted, and I like that it emphasizes the settlement/computation layers as well as the peer-reviewed research behind Cardano.

Let's ask ChatGPT about its opinions on Cardano:

It gave a pretty generic answer and pointed out that AI language models don't have opinions or emotions. Interestingly, ChatGPT mentioned that Cardano has a “strong and dedicated community.” I personally believe this to be true (especially on Twitter), but it's a bit odd for ChatGPT to mention this. In my next question, I wanted to see if ChatGPT said the same about Bitcoin and Ethereum:

Neither answer mentioned anything about Bitcoin’s and Ethereum’s respective communities, but what’s even more interesting is that before concluding, ChatGPT mentions some challenges Bitcoin and Ethereum face without doing so for Cardano. This seems a bit unfair, and I would’ve liked to see ChatGPT mention at least one challenge that Cardano also faces.

Let's see what ChatGPT can tell us about energy efficiency:

It is worth noting again that ChatGPT has only been trained on data before 2021, which was before the Ethereum merge. So ChatGPT still thinks that Ethereum uses a proof-of-work consensus mechanism. Nevertheless, it still provided a nice answer to our question and listed Cardano first on the list of “more energy-efficient” cryptocurrencies (probably because it has the largest market cap of the 4 listed). In the concluding paragraph, ChatGPT was intelligent enough to point out that energy-efficiency is not the only characteristic of a good crypto: so is security, scalability, and utility.

Lastly, let's see what ChatGPT thinks about Cardano’s security:

This answer is also pretty vague and repeats a lot of information from the answer to “What do you think about Cardano?” Unlike last time, however, it mentions the use of formal verification methods. It also, once again, gives a counterpoint to the argument by mentioning that even Cardano can be susceptible to hacks and has room to grow.

Overall, ChatGPT is a very powerful tool and, unlike other publicly available chat AIs, is very easy to set up and use. The answers it gave were a bit vague, but undoubtedly the AI is expected to improve in the future. I personally think the most valuable part of ChatGPT’s answers is the counterarguments it gives, something we should all be considering more when we take a stance on something.
